Multicultural Counseling

Warm, compassionate support for exploring your identity with a therapist who understands your story.

You may have arrived here because…

However you came across this page, I’m thrilled you’re here. Take a look to see if my multicultural counseling might be right for you.

You might cope with these conflicts by concealing aspects of your true self from others.

You may feel uncomfortable with your cultural identity and have difficulty finding belonging and connection to a community. This can often leave you feeling confused, frustrated, and isolated, which can lead to anxiety and depression.

Depending on where you are and who you are with, you may act differently or code switch to avoid rejection. You may feel like you are not good enough for just being you.

You might have become disconnected from yourself and fear a loss of identity without the roles and duties you have been fulfilling for so long.

You might not know where to begin with getting in touch with yourself because you have spent the majority of your life doing what others expect of you.

If this is you: you need a space where you can discover your cultural identity with understanding and compassion so you can feel unstuck, connected, and secure in yourself.

I see beauty in your multifaceted identity.

I create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your true self without the pressures of external expectations. You don’t have to carry the weight of others’ expectations alone. I am here to help you identify and release the roles and duties that no longer serve you.

Sometimes we feel stuck in norms and patterns and don’t realize that we have the power to get unstuck. With my compassionate support, we will explore the barriers holding you back and identify practical steps towards achieving your goals. My approach is tailored to meet you where you are, fostering a sense of connection and security as you move forward.

I help you reconnect with yourself and find a sense of belonging. By understanding and embracing your cultural identity, you can build meaningful relationships and feel confident in your unique place in the world.

My Experiences with Multicultural Counseling.

Culture has such a tremendous effect on us, in the decisions we make, what we wear, how we talk, the foods we eat, and the things we value most. Not to mention, that every family has their own mini culture within their larger ethnic culture. With more than one set of cultural values, where can one turn to?

In my work with clients, I realized people from all different cultures shared similar struggles. They felt like they didn’t fit in any one particular culture and often felt both pride and shame regarding their culture of origin.

As a fellow child of immigrant parents, I understand many of the common complexities and challenges that come with being part of contrasting cultures. I arrived at a place where I could celebrate my Indian heritage and Western influence. I personally like to go by Navi because it represents the blending of my cultures. After letting go of the definitions of how I “should” be, I felt liberated to make changes in my life that did not fit a cookie cutter description.

Not everyone’s journey looks the same. I’d love to help you identify your core values, so you can enjoy the best that both cultures have to offer, without losing sight of who you are.
